Neo Geo is a family of SNK-developed video game hardware. The brand originated on the market from 1990 to 2004 with the release of an arcade system, the Neo Geo MVS and its home console counterpart, the Neo Geo AES. Both the arcade system and the console were powerful for the time being and the AES allows the games released for the MVS to be perfectly compatible. The high price point for the AES console and its games, however, prevented it from competing directly with its contemporaries, the Sega Genesis, Super NES and TurboGrafx-16.
